I have national championships ,etc on my compact flash card and have failed terrribly trying to copy the files and than edit and download on line or burn to disc.
Does anyone have a step by step guide for idiots.
I have a decent computer with windows and xp media center 2005.
Any help would be great as would love to post them and also burn to disc. I also need to edit as lots of wasted early turn-on time and letting car run for 5 minutes after pulling in pits.
Thanks

All you should need to copy the files over is a CF card reader. You should be able to have two file manager windows open with the CF card drive and your target drive and simply drag/move/copy the files over.
VLC media player from www.videolan.org is the player we use to play the files. It's free.
Windows Media Player and Windows Movie Maker don't come with an MPEG2 codec (video decoder) so you need to download one. I've used the Elecard one with success. http://www.elecard.com/
Windows Movie Maker works fine for simple clipping/editing of movies once this codec is installed. More robust programs like Final Cut and Vegas will have more features.
Good luck!
P.S. -- Our new Auto-Record feature could be used to eliminate the early turn on and extra time afterwards, and would mean you wouldn't have to remember to push the record button. ;)

Is there such a thing as a card reader with a mini video display? That one can view the recorded sessions at the track prior to plugging in to your computer at home?
Thanks.

Hi George,
The PDR has an AV OUT port in the back of it which you can plug into a monitor and play the videos directly from the PDR. Any TV, miniTV, or other monitor that will accept composite (typically the yellow RCA cable) video will work.
There may be devices like you describe out there, but I haven't seen one. A lot of folks also have laptops at the track for other purposes that they also use to watch the video.
Thanks.

Mini TV sounds OK, but a bit bulky.
I generally leave my laptop in the hotel room.
If you find a nice solution, please let me know.
Thanks.
