I would like to petition for a firmware update that saves the files as date/time stamps vs the other options. This would allow for lining up the video to data acquisition systems that record the same session. The time stamp could be when it starts recording, there is no problem there.

A format like this would be excellent:

MM_DD_YYYY_HH24_MI_SS.mpg

Currently we have to hold fingers in the air for the session we are running, it's silly.

Why not list/sort the files by date rather than by name?

I'm sure there's a reason to heep with the old 8.3 file naming convention, but I can't think what it is besides to be similar to the digital camera formats (like putting files in the /DCIM file heirarchy too).

I can't imagine 8.3 is a requirement these days, at least Traqmate does not require them, and most other DAS programs. I am not sure why Chasecam would.

Might be a limitation of the Flash Filesystem that is being used. NTFS and other allow longer as well as some of the FAT but I recall implementation of longer then 8.3 was a pain for some reason (Ugly Microsoft add on to the old FAT file system). And yes, easy to sort by the time stamp, I like the way it does it's rolling count as the file name, and as a free-bee you get the time stamp and can sort on that with most any file manager in windoze or mac.
