I finally got around to getting a pair of the Ridata 16GB 233X UDMA mode 4 Lightning Series Compact Flash cards from Supermedia store. They were suspect a long while ago when the first came out, but they seem to work fine. I ran both recorders to fill the cards on max resolution and never had a 'Slow' message. They are on sale now for about 54 bucks each.

I've had good luck with those 'bargain' cards too, been using the 8 gb models in my older pdr100 for a year with no issues, the 16 gb ones work fine too. I got mine from newegg.

Hi-
I'm new and just got the PDR100 kit. It came with a 4GB card. How many hours of auto motorsport recording will that give me at High, and Medium resolution? If I wanted to upgrade the card, how much would the 8GB give me? Cost of 8GB?
Thank you.

I get just over 90 minutes on an 8 gb card at the highest quality and full size.

Which is the preferred brand card to get in 8GB?
Where's a good place to buy them?
Tnx

I use ridata 8 gb cards from newegg mostly, they're cheap and I have yet to run a race that's longer than 90 minutes so they hold the whole thing.

Quick question - did you format the card using 64K allocation units? I seem to recall on the old forums a recommendation to use the largest allocation unit available to keep fragmentation to a minimum. Randall? Others?
BTW, I just paid $59 for a Sandisk Extreme III 16GB card [30MB/s] off of eBay (not a HKG repro - the real Sandisk device!).

I think so, but anything is also probably fine with the Sandisk

I have used only RiData cards as well as they are inexpensive. I have 4gig, 8gig, and the 16gig cards and all have worked OK. On the 8gig cards I recall having to reformat them to change the block size as I was getting some Slow Card errors. Once I did that they were fine. The 16Gig cards worked without that trick.
The formatting info was on the old forum, might be worth digging that up as it has the instruction to format a card that may be on the edge of being slow but will make it work like a champ.

Is the Ridata 16GB 233X Compact Flash (CF) Card a "fast enough" card for video use with the PDR100?
Some have said there may be errors?
