Randall,

Just ran a session or two today with my SS1000 and second camera hooked up. For some reason, the quality of the video is not what it used to be. Can I upload the raw MPEG file from the CF and seek your input? I can also verify settings on the ChaseCam unit tomorrow. Please let me know where I can upload this video for your input and suggestions. Thanks.

Toby,

I'll contact you direct to transfer the file so we can review it.

Thanks.

Randall, I spent time isolating the electrical wiring to insure that I was avoiding any cross-feed over to the camera, and still have the issue. Also, the audio is nowhere near as good as it used to be. I have moved the location of the PDR from the crossbar under the dash to between the drivers and passengers seats but did not change any audio settings for gain on the internal mic.

Can you let me know where I can overnight a CD of the file so you can help me out? I have a Club Race on 13-15 of March and would like to fix this before then if possible. Thanks.

Randall,

Update! It looks like the SS1000 is the source of the diagonal lines! I just tried 3 different sessions to see if I could isolate the problem. 1st session - two cameras through the SS1000 in PIP mode into the PDR100. 2nd session - single camera through the SS1000 in PIP mode into the PDR100. 3rd session - single camera directly into the PDR100.

Sessions 1 and 2 both have diagonal lines in the recording. Session 3 looks perfect. I did not change any SS1000 settings between sessions 1 and 2. Any ideas?

Also, re: the audio, which side - top or bottom - should face "out" (i.e. away from the SS1000) to obtain the best audio? I can describe my mounting for you if that helps. Let me know.

Toby,

Hard to understand your mounting. A photo would help.

Though it may not be a permanent solution, try running the SS1000 off batteries and see if that helps. We have 8-cell battery packs that should work. Feel free to call us at the office 619-337-2300 to get one. If you have a PDR that takes batteries, try running the SS1000 off car power and the PDR off batteries. This may help.

Thanks!

Toby,

I have run into the same issue, but for some reason I tracked down the problem to be the prd100, what initially leads me to believe that it might be the S-Video connection in the back of either module.

My problem started the same way. Noise in the form of lines.

I'm running camera extension cables, so I replaced those, I removed them from near other wiring, I replaced the cameras, I replaced the ss1000, and nothing, the same issue. I finally replace the pdr100 and just like that the image was clear as day.

I'd like to get some input from anybody.

Thanks.

Noise is often a tough thing to track down because it has multiple causes. This is why I asked Toby to try batteries to see if the problem went away.

patfracc, I'm assuming you were in contact with us while you were troubleshooting the problem. If not, or if you still have a PDR that is causing this issue, please call us or email sales (at) chasecam.com so we can help you resolve the issue.

Thanks.

Thank you Randall for the info.

I haven't contact ChaseCam yet. I'll do so next, thanks for the info.

I'll be out of town for a week or so, but I'll keep you posted if there are any news or improvements.

Thanks again.
