View Full Version : Serial and Trouble on PDR100

Good evening,

I have three small questions ...
When purchasing my ChaseCam PDR100 in Digistore (France) I was not given a serial number, is this normal?
Is it possible to update firmware without a serial number?
When recording video, the saccades appear on the final ... I did not have this problem before ... you have a solution? Given that neither the cable nor the camera has trouble.

Exemple of "saccades" trouble : View (http://www.e-coasters.eu/Video_EC/Visu/Bellewaerde-El_Volador_OnRide_ECam_By_E-Coasters/index.html) - Download (http://www.e-coasters.eu/Video_EC/Tele/Bellewaerde-El_Volador_OnRide_ECam_By_E-Coasters.rar) (same problems with the original MPEG2)

Thank you in advance for your answers
... sorry little speak english ...

Hi Dams67

1st : No serial number is not normal of course, but mine are hand written, so I don't think it could be very important. Chasecam will certainly answer better than me for that.

2st : You can updating your firmware without any sérial number, it's only a small file that you download and nobody ask you for any N°.
Into SUPPORT you can get "Utility and Instruction Manual Downloads". It's a .pdf with all the explanation to how updating your firmware. Normaly you get it with your PDR. It's in English of course.
Look at the forum, sure you get a lot of answers for your futurs questions.

3rd : Your jerk (saccades). Very small but very bad in that kind of video.

If the wire of the cam get dommage, the PDR stop with "VIDEO : no Input" on it's display otherwise in the best case, you had recorded some bad frame. That's not what you have. Some frame missing but there's no "hole" on your video.

Well, well, well !
I put your orginal on Première and sow something special. Your video is in 30 i/s !? If you buy the PDR and above all the cam in France it's not for our prices ;)( I'm french too ) and you must be in 25i/s!
With your video soft if you open and work with a normal Europeen projet ( PAl 25i/s) you are going to have some frame missing with an original video in NTFS 30i/s. The reverse is different 25i/s > 30i/s, the soft "imagine" some more frame and it's not so visual.

I open a PAl project in Premiere and your video has jerks, I do the same in a NTSC one and it seems to be fluid.

Try to think about that :
- Or the original video is realy in 30i/s and if you don't want to have problems with Europeen standard, you must change your cam for a PAL one. (PDR record Pal or NTSC without any problem, it's depend on the cam.)
- Or your orginal video is in 25i/s but that one is a 2nd hand, already passed into Première ( or other ) and export, by mistake, in NTSC.

As you said "I did not have this problem before" it could be simply a mistake of post work with your video soft.

I prefer writing in English, If I tell you something wrong, Chasecam can make a correction and if it's ok, everybody can get an information. The hour for them is 9 less ( ~San Francisco ) than our in France, so be patient.

Hope these simple ideas help you.
Best regards
Michel Broussal

Merci d'avance :)

Michel,
Thank you for your help!

Dams67,
I believe we spoke on the phone yesterday. I would definitely recommend trying Michel's suggestions prior to sending the unit to us for troubleshooting, so you can save the cost and time of shipping.

Thank you.
