Has there been any progress in this area? I have both a Chase Cam and a Pi system and I'm trying to get the two of them to work together so that I can automate recording, match up data to video, etc.

Which Pi logger do you have? If you have a Delta logger (Clubman, Lite or Pro level), then it's easy to combine Chasecam video with logged data in our Pi Toolbox Analysis program. The video is manually synchronized to the logged data and the user can let the video play or jump around and the two stay perfectly synced up. The syncing process takes about minute or two the first time you try it. After that, plan on about 30 seconds to synchronize the video and data. If you have a Pi 1 or Pi 2 then, the sync in Toolbox can still be done, but there's an intermediary step to convert the data. Likewise if you have a Pi 3+, 4+ or 3 Club system.
