I'm really excited about the release of Dashware and would ideally like to purchase. However, I don't have a computer running Microsoft Windows. My home machines are Linux and I have a Mac at work.
Any chance this software will be made available for a wider range of operating systems?

We've successfully tested DashWare on a Mac running Parallels. I'll let Mark or Rolf comment on any potential fits beyond that.
Hi phillc,
DashWare was written in C# using Microsoft's new WPF framework, which is part of .NET. That means porting to Mac or Linux would be a complete rewrite. As Randall mentioned, DashWare works under Parallels and should theoretically work under VMware.
Thanks,
Rolf

Thanks for the replies.
Of course running Dashware in Parallels or VMWare both assumes that I own a legitimate copy of the Windows operating system, which unfortunately I don't.
Would you consider porting this to Linux via the Mono project?

Hi phillc,
The mono project unfortunately does not have WPF support, and it sounds like they don't have plans for adding it anytime soon:

I know some people are religiously opposed to owning copies of Microsoft Windows, and I don't want to get into a religious debate :), but the XP Home edition can be purchased for around $80. That is about what I paid for a big hex wrench I needed to remove my motorcycle wheels.
I hope you realize I'm not trying to offend. I do wish we could easily build DashWare for other platforms, but it seems unlikely at this point in time. Even if the mono project had WPF support I bet the way we use DirectShow to render videos would not port anyway. We actually have a mix of C# and C++. Nothing ever seems to port as easy as it should.
Thanks,
Rolf
