This is similar to the other csv threads, but I thought I had done everything right.
I stripped all the header text away and was left with something that started as shown below. "Other" was selected for the datalogger type.
Dashware gave the error:
"Exception index was outside the bounds of the array
at ultra.guage...."
Any ideas? I think the fields represent time, rpm, lateral/vertical g's.
4.8 960 0.083 1.026
4.85 960 0.092 1.024
4.9 960 0.105 1.025
4.95 970 0.113 1.026
5 970 0.12 1.028
5.05 960 0.125 1.032
5.1 960 0.127 1.036
5.15 960 0.129 1.036
5.2 960 0.13 1.035
5.25 960 0.13 1.033
5.3 960 0.132 1.028
5.35 950 0.137 1.023
5.4 950 0.144 1.021
5.45 950 0.152 1.021
5.5 950 0.159 1.021
etc.

Hi Craig,
You took off one line too many. We need the line that labels the fields like:
time, rpm, lateral Gs, etc...
Also, what you pasted shows numbers that were space separated, not comma, tab or ; separated. Maybe the formatting got messed up a bit when you pasted into here? Sometimes the logger software gives you an option for specifying the separator when exporting data. If so, force it to be a comma.
If you want, email a freshly exported CSV file (header and all) to me and I can have a look: rolf@chasecam.com
Thanks,
Rolf
If you want a more thorough explanation, bring up the "Add Data Logger" dialog by clicking on the [+] button in the project tab next to "Data File(s):", then press F1 for context-sensitive help.

is this from the gtech rr? how did it come out? seems to be the cheapest option for 5 hz data logging is it not?

Yes, the data was from a GTech RR. After using Rolf's help, I was able to import the csv file and get the RPM gauge to work.
In truth, I was using unrelated gtech data and chasecam video files (from different events) as proof-of-concept, so I haven't actually done the syncing yet. It seems like I'm also going to have to add a column to the CSV file for car speed (calculated from engine rpm and gear). All this is going to take some playing around, so it will be next weekend before I get to it - but it seems like it should work.

g-tech doesn't dump out speed? if you calc it will it be accurate?
how does the g-tech rr compare to the http://www.maxqdata.com/products.htm mqgps? it seems like the latter provides speed but not rpm. i'm trying to find whether the mqgps or g-tech rr is the most economic choice for data logging.

I've used a Gtech over video myself for RPM and accelerometers (darn it, where is that video).
Works pretty well given it's limited logging points.
