i see the gtech just dumps out
time, rpm, longitudal g's, lateral g's

will dashaware be able to figure out speed from this data alone? draw a race track and the position on the track? i was expecting there to be fields for gps coordinates as well. dashaware and trackvision are able to figure out speed and draw a track/position on the track merely with this data and math alone?

Yeah, I don't think the GTech has GPS. I think even the RR is just accelerometer based data + some sensors? I took at look at the product pages and I don't see GPS mentioned?

For me personally, I like having GPS + RPM. The more data the better of course, but that's a pretty good minimal set that you can get a lot out of.

We don't draw track maps using the g-forces because it's usually pretty weird looking.

i see. what's the cheapest gps logging device out there? is it going to be a separate/expensive component to score one that gets rpm as well? gtech i see gets the rpms from the electrical signal from the cigarette lighter.

sickmint79,

You'd have to shop around. You can browse our Data Acquisition forum for some ideas of what brands are out there and how they integrate with the ChaseCam recorders: http://www.chasecam.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=8

Thanks.
