There is a new version of DashWare - 1.0.4 -which contains some new features and improvements. You will need to uninstall 1.0.3 and reinstall 1.0.4. You will also need to reenter your serial number. Below is a list of the new changes:

We are now using a newer version of the MainConcept codecs. The quality and performance has been improved as well as compatibility bug fixes.
Component Guides in the Gauge Designer are now more useful. For each component, guides will appear at all 4 corners and at the center. They will also be shown on top of everything else so you can use them to line up one component on the top of another.
Added 4 new component types: Animated Arc and Animated Pie, plus their Non-Linear versions.
Added new gauges: Arc Gauge, Formula Car Cluster, and the Analysis Bar. Also updated the Digital bar appearance.
While dragging the video or data slider, holding shift will cause the slider to move in 1 second increments, ctrl = 4 second increments, alt = 60 second increments.
When clicking the video or data nudge buttons, the default is moving by 0.1 secs, shift = 0.01 secs, ctrl = 0.001 secs, alt = 1.0 secs (faster)
Grid splitters are now orange so that they stand out more, to let the user know they can be dragged.
The Sync Map Zoom level now defaults to making the whole track visible.
In the Gauge Designer if you have a Text or Dynamic Text component highlighted, holding down Alt while scaling will only scale the text box, not the font.
Cleaned up display of time strings for video and data in main window.
Lots and lots of fixes to do with importing data files and setting start/finish.
Fixed bugs with the scaling of components in the Gauge Designer
Fixed the time display error with the Dynamic Text component.
For all the "Fast Lap, Same Pos" calculated inputs, the position is now correctly based off the first data file.
Added .MTS file extension to list of filters for input video files.
The "Fast Lap, Same Pos - Time Diff" has been negated. So now if you see "0:00.500" that means you are 0.5 seconds behind where you were on your fast lap. If it was negative it would mean you are ahead.
Gave more space for the Fast Lap number in the Corvette ZR1 gauge.

Great stuff-thanks Mark! This version fixes both the fast lap time and Vista Media Center codec issues that I was having.

So far it's a horror story for me

i ran the prerelease and things were fine, for what I tested anyway.

Now when i tried to open an old project it couldn't find my modified gauge which I'd spent hours on...

I'm really unhappy about losing my dash but fuming that I can't make another one.. What gives???

AArrgh !!
I was an hour into recreating the updated dash based on a clone of the Subaru WRX and I got the same thing, a popup box telling me the dashpod subaru etc etc suddenly could not be found.. Another hour of my life gone ! WTH ??

Update:
Discovered that when this happens the dash you're working with disappears and it's not possible to add another dash to the project without getting some message about something not allowed to be negative and some problem with the 'index'.
However, if you leave the keyboard/mouse alone, 4 or 5 instances of the dash appear all at once after a minute or two !!!

Serious bug here.

Also, why don't we have access to all the data types in the dashboards. I see that only the ZR1 dash has all the points available in the drop down data type list. Why can't we add 'anything/everything' to the other dashboards??

Hi Marcus,

I understand very well your irritation. Don't worry you didn't loose your work made with 1.0.3.
The location between Soft Dashware and the gauges ( created or not ) is not the same so when you uninstall a previus version for a new one you don't touch the gauges.

It seems to have some little bugs on that 1.0.4. I try and have nearly the same fault as yours.
The temporary solution is to uninstall 1.0.4. and install 1.0.3. you recover your old gauges... I hope for you!

If you are on XP as I'm
The gauges are here :
C:\Documents and settings\All user\Application Data\ChaseCam\DashWare\Gauges

And the soft is here :
C:\Program Files\ChaseCam

If you are on Vista, make a ChaseCam search, you'll find two different directories.

Be sure the Chasecam guys get the solution. It's like a racecar setup, you work hard on your front wheels and after that it's the rear which don't work as fine as before. Not easy !

Hope it's help you, and ...allay you. ;)
Cheers
Michel

Hi,

We found the bug late last night, and will be posting a new version shortly. For those of you who are curious - it was a microsoft "feature". We ask Microsoft for the minimum value of a a decimal (double to you programmers) number and write that out as a default value in some component types. When we read the minimum value back in from the file, microsofts library says that is an invalid value for a decimal (double)! So we were writing out gauges, but we could not read them back in thanks to this "feature" from microsoft.
