Initiate Recording

I have my PDR100 hard wired into my loom that goes from my data acquisition system.

In that loom there is an LED warning light that will initiate when the engine is over revved.
Is there anyway that I can use this signal and instead of having it light the LED have it initiate recording instead? This will make syncing the video up much easier afterward.

We have two leads on the RJ45 plug that can trigger recording. Problem with your idea is that I'm assuming this LED is going to continue to turn on and off, which means if you use it you'll make the recording also turn on and off. What you need is either a single signal for on/off or something that will stay on the entire time you want to record.
