One of my 6 PDR100s has a power/record button that sometimes doesn't want to play the game. Result: End of a race, unit still recording and I have an important file being written and no way to stop the recording. Eventually - no option except to cross fingers and open battery door. The result was what I expected: a 3GB file that cannot be played (as it presumably doesn't have the final header/footer written). It can be copied, but not played.

My question is: Is there a file repair utility that can generate a header to make this file playable?

(And presumably the PDR100 will have to be returned to supplier for repair.)

Funny, I've been able to pull the power on a running PDR and not had any record issues.

It doesn't help now, but I also thought that the PDR had a little non-volatile memory (at least to power the clock). In the event of a power failure, the PDR would remember where things went wrong and next time you powered it up, it would try to finish closing the file nicely.

So, next time you have to yank the power cord/batteries, plug it back in and power it up briefly (if possible).

Yep. Tried that. No success. Subsequent files created OK, but this one shows duration of 28 mins (3 GB) and can't be played on PDR Recordings List, nor recognisable by PC software, unlike all the others. Anyone at Chasecam Central have a repair utility?

And I should add - running the latest firmware 01.02.04.

adrenalinevideo,

We'd be happy to take a shot at recovering the file, but can't guarantee it will work. My suggestion would be to grab the RMA form from the Support section of our site (use RMA#1440) and send in the PDR with the CF card with the bad file. We can diagnose the problem, attempt to recover the video, and get you back on your way.

Thanks.
