Has anyone designed a gauge cluster that resembles the F1 data overlay seen on SPEED?
It seems entirely possible with the gauge tool.
Here's a screen capture of what I'm referring to:

Yes, we have a similar gauge cluster:

It is included in DashWare 1.0.5 which can be downloaded here:

Thanks,
Rolf

Rolf, that one looks very similar. Very cool. Is it possible to use the animated bars angled like the original F1 display?
Yeah, it could be done with a series of Animated Bars for the horizontal bit, then Animated Arcs for the curved part.

I took a look (and modified) this Gauge this week.
If you take a look at how they do the shift lights, you can see fairly easily how you could implement the straight part of the F1 gauge.
Of course, the other thing to realize is that the TV gauge is not really a gauge, as they do not acurately represent anything under 200kmph.
I might play at making one of these from scratch...

I played around with it as well, but I wasn't sastified with my changes (lack of talent). I would love to see the changes you made.

OK, I created this from scratch.
I did not copy the existing gauge.
I used the screenshot as my only guide.

NOTE, that I did not use ANY graphics to make this display.
All of the graphics were created using the ANIMATED ARC and ANALOG GAUGE FACE functions.
Attached is the XML and the Excel spreadsheet that I used to calculate the speed block drawings along the left.
NOTE, that when you first load the gauge, you will not see speed values, as the default to a ZERO value...
They do display when they have data...
I made the 90 degree speed curve go from 50 to 200.
I put in a 0-50 speed blocks to the right of the 50.
I put in a 200-300 speed block above the 200.
I have put in lap timers.
I have NOT put in a GForce circle, but it would be easy to do.
(Perhaps replace the gear display with a GForce circle.)
My RPM is a x100 scale, but the scale is easy to change.
Instead of putting a drop shadow on all numbers, I've done an outline on all numbers.
(So, I draw the number 5 times, firstly in black at (+1,+1) (-1,+1) (+1,-1) & (-1,-1), then I draw it in white in the center (0,0).
Honestly the gauge designer is FANTASTIC.
You can see where your gauges are in REAL TIME, as you adjust them around.
This system is great to use.
(I've used TrackVision, and TraqMate software in the past, and they were no way this easy to use.)

Okay, I'm working on an upload now....
I made some modifications...
I moved the gear indicator to the top right of the cluster.
I put a GForce map in the center of the cluster.
I changed all the speed indicators to 50% of my original, as my car does not go very fast.
(Now I have 0-25 along the bottom, 25-100 on the curve, and 100-150 on the vertical.)
I also added a numeric speed indicator to the gauge.
I tweaked the Throttle/Brake boxes so that they didn't touch the GForce gauge.
Here is the video.

Very great gauge.
Not sure I didn't prefer the first one you built, without the G force...

No pleasing some people. <G>
I'm burning a video with the original gauge, but it will take me a while to upload it (on cellular connection.)
Then you can do side by side viewing to see which you prefer...
Nick.

That looks great!
Thank you for the complements, we put a lot of effort into the gauge designer.
