View Full Version : Problems with audio staying in synch

My source file is an XVID encoded file from the POV camera. When I create a video using the H.264 encoder, the sound becomes out of synch. When I create a video using the wmv format the sound stays in synch. I would prefer to use the H.264 encoder because it's the std video format.
I might be able to include the original xvid video file if that helps.
I'm using DashWare version 1.0.6 on Windows Vista.
Let me know if there's any other information needed.
Thanks guys!

Hi Rob,
We would like to get the original video if possible. I am going to duplicate the problem here, and then I will contact our codec vendor and they should be able to figure out what is going on.
I will PM you with our ftp information.

Mark, have you heard back from your codec vendor?

Hi Rob,
I heard back today - nice video btw - your car really flies.
OK so the solution is pretty easy. DashWare allows you to create your own video profiles, so you just need to copy a video profile and change one setting. So from the file menu in DashWare choose Edit Video Profiles. This will bring up the video profile editor. Choose the profile you want to modify (eg. MP4(H.264) High Def High Quality, Large file size) from the pulldown, and press the clone button(2nd button from left). If you want to rename the profile, just type in the combobuox pulldown. Next click the settings button for the Video Muxer. This will bring up the MinConcept MP4 Multiplexer Properties. Click the settings tab,and check live mode (direct timestamps). Click ok, and ok on the video profile editor dialog. When creating your video select your newly created (cloned) profile, and the audio should stay syncd. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Mark, that did the trick. Thanks. I assume the default H.264 profiles will have direct timestamp defaultly checked in a future release. I'm glad there's a workaround.

I downloaded and installed the latest version of dashware tonight. I was a little surprised that the direct timestamp wasn't defaultly checked for all the H.264 profiles. Maybe that setting can be included in the next version?
