I realized one single problem.

Before recording I have to make a test video, and watch it on my laptop or by using AV OUT, we can see the test record.

This is not easy and sometimes we may not have time to test how the angle is.

Is there an easy way to control how we record/ how the record angle is?

Hi,

You'll look at your angle more easily with a small external screen.
Chasecam have one very usable on their store and you can find some very cheap one on the web.
You powered it generaly in 9v, connect it on the AV OUT of the PDR100.
Put the PDR100 on ON ( not record! ) and you'll see the angle of your cam.
You spend 20" to see if the cam is ok.
Personnaly, I used a small 2" screen ( China...) battery powered in 9v and it was enough to see the angle. I also made a mark on the cam to get time.

Hope it's help you

I can't find it.

I made a 50' long RCA cable using a piece of coax and screw-on connectors from Radio Shack. I use this to send the output of the PDA to my TV when the car is sitting in the trailer in my driveway.

Would sure like something cheap and simple which I could also take to the track.

Hi Guy

Oupsss...
Can't find too !
They put it on a small corner of the store or they stopped selling it.
Sorry I didn't control that.

The small screen I get was perfect for the track, small and self-contained, it was similar to this one :

http://www.tradestead.com/wholesale/lcd-tv-lcd-monitor/portable-lcd-monitor/3-5-inch-tft-lcd-in-car-monitor-p-4046.html

The important details :
1 video in PAL or NTSC
Power 9v>15v ( ok for battery 9v )
And the price...
Never mind for the quality of the frame, it's just for the angle of the cam.

Hope it's help you

The small LCD we were using was discontinued. We've identified a new one and should have some available soon.

Thanks!

One of the first "mini" PVR that I purchased was from helmetcamera.com. It's called the XtremeDVR and has an articulating LCD screen. I've since moved up to the PDR100 however one of the features of the XtremeDVR is it has the ability to take AV in on the same kind of plug that the PDR puts AV out on and display it on it's LCD. The ExtremeDVR has been relegated to external monitor duties however in a pinch it can still be used as a video recorder or camcorder. It has internal batteries so it's quit portable. Lists at Helmetcamera.com for $239.95

If you want something with a larger screen that's self-contained, look at the EverFocus EN220 (http://www.everfocus.com/product.cfm?productid=71) - this is a 5.6" monitor in a padded carrying case which also includes a rechargeable battery. And it also has audio. All you need to use it with the ChaseCam is a stereo mini-plug to 2 right-angle mono plugs cable. I've been using this for about a year now. If you shop around, you should be able to find it for a little over $200. It's quite popular with the people who set up security camera systems.
