Why do the batteries in my pdr100 go flat even if the unit is not turned on.

When I say flat I mean within a couple of hours, the unit will power up but switches straight back off.

The batteries are the rechargeable ones supplied by chasecam, I've also tried another set and the same happens.

Cheers Andy

I don't know for sure with the PDR 100 but I have found that when charged batteries are left in a device even when the actual device is turned off, there is still a small current drain or leakage. Could be due to onboard micro processors sensing input voltage and maintaining on status or memory module. Rechargeable batteries left alone, not installed, will eventually discharge just as our vehicle sealed Glass Matt batteries. Unless I am using the unit the next day, I take my batteries out and keep them in a quality charger which can float charge already full batteries. I also use a sharpie and date each new set of batteries as I rotate them in and keep the older sets as backup emergency batteries. A good charger can also tell you when a battery is past its life expectancy and then I just throw them out of my supply because if they are left in service, they will pull down the other batteries it is sharing in a circuit device.

Hope this helps and actually does apply to the PDR100.

Have you confirmed that the batteries work fine if you don't leave them in the PDR for storage?

yes batteries were brand new, 2 sets both do the same.

I'm not sure I fully understand the issue. Sorry if these questions sound silly.

When the batteries are 'going flat' is the PDR completely off, or just in 'standby mode' with the green light?

If they were 'brand new' rechargeables, were they charged first? These batteries normally don't come charged out of the box.

Thanks.

i have my phone on charge now and the charging light is on but whenever i take the charger out it immediately says low battery. any one know why this might be and is it a known bug that i can resolve?

thanks
