Can someone remind me what audio codec I need to find to get the mpg's to play? Just got a new computer and am getting no audio output in media player.

You could just download NERO, there is the good codec inside.

Any good MPEG2 video codec should have the correct audio component. You can download VLC player for free at www.videolan.org, or download/buy an MPEG2 codec from Main Concept, Elecard, or other codec company.
