I am heading to the Blue Ridge mountains this upcoming weekend to play car with some friends.
I always try to get footage of the fun. Last year I put the suction cup mount on the front hood of the car. New paint is making me feel like I do not want to do this anymore.
I noticed some studs sticking out from under the front bumper. Most likely unused front license plate mounts. I picked up a piece of aluminum flat stock, drilled 3 holes and I have myself a neat front mount that should make for some excellent footage.
Footage coming after the weekend.

Looks great!
We've done similar setups on production work and the results are always fun. As a general rule, the lower you can mount the camera the faster it feels like you're moving. We've had them scraping the track (Jay Leno's crew at Monterey Historics) and got some killer views.
I would recommend a CC10 cradle for that camera though. It's much stronger than mounting it from the rear of the camera, especially in a spot like that where you have the potential to pick up possible debris.
Post the video afterwards!
Thanks.

The video looks amazing, my only mistake was letting the PDR sit on the passenger seat. I need to buy a mount for it.
I think the sound is jacked. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the late reply.
Sounds like the audio gain is a little too high. Secure the PDR and bump the sound down a bit and it should sound better.
Nice video!

I am trying to sort out my sound before I head to the mountains his
year.
I have purchased some mounts for my PDR100 from the host and hope over the next 2 weeks to get this sorted out. I am Autocrossing in 1 week and hope I can have better sound by then.
This is with the gain set to the lowest setting.

I am starting to think I may have to try an external mic, I think my exhaust is resonating too much for the unit.
I have the flying lead with the mic in it from Chase, I am digging it up and seeing if the sound is any better with it. Then if that is not good I am open to suggestions regarding mic selection.
I must be insane driving this car 730 miles to the mountains. :D

I gave up on the internal mic it just would not work for me, I think my exhaust tone just overpowers it.
I bought a radioshack $10 headset with a separate mic jack and plugged it in. I tried it out an an AX and I am VERY happy with the sound now. I just have to secure it better. Most likely some painters tape and the dash.

Very nice! I ended-up using the tie-down hooks that came with the car as the mount for my Chasecam camera. I used metal straps to attach the camera to the tie-down hook, added a tether, and it doesn't budge. If I want a rear view I just use the rear tie-down hook. I zip-tied the wires through the engine bay through the firewall (took-up the slack you see here in the pic). Very cheap and no drilling into the bumper or metal fabrication needed.
