While there are many people using the PDR100 in harsh conditions, the PDR100 unit itself is generally mounted out of harm's way. Since I have an Ariel Atom (http://www.arielatom.com) which is basically a tubular frame on wheels, there isn't exactly a place to mount the PDR100 where it won't be exposed to the elements. And I drive my Atom in all sorts of weather (when I'm driving it to a track event over 1000 miles away, staying in due to bad weather isn't an option).
The stock PDR100 doesn't claim to be waterproof, and the R versions weren't in stock when I purchased my units.
I have dual PDR100's mounted in the passenger footwell of the Atom, on a bracket above the fire extinguisher bottle. In this location it does get a bit of spray from the road, as well as being exposed to falling rain coming in the side.
However, both units held up fine even in a major downpour:

That rain did knock out my dashboard as well as the engine PCM, but the PDR100 kept on recording. Of course, this is a "don't try this at home" warning - I doubt that flooding is covered by the ChaseCam warranty. But it does indicate just how well this unit is made.
