I'm installing my PDR in my new formula car and was wondering if it is acceptable to ground the PDR to the chassis or do I need to run wire back to the battery. Power is coming from a 12V terminal behind dash. Running the ground back to the battery would be difficult.

Hi Lancer360

If you don't want to have futur problems, it's very important to get the power directly from the battery.
Don't get also the same way for these wire than the car power or Dash wire way.

If that 12V terminal is powering anything it should also have a ground wire at/near it, no? I'm not sure how the wiring is hooked up on your car. On most production cars, the chassis is connected to the - side of the battery and almost any clean metal part of the chassis will work for ground.

Everything else that is powered on the car should be grounded somewhere, like your dash. Use the same ground and you should be ok.
