I have searched and cant find anything on this.

How do I remove the interlacing in the video on export via video codec in Dashware or is there a preferred way to do this that gets the best results.

Hi,

Can you tell me what input file you are using, and what video profile have you selected for your output?

For now I will assume you are using mpeg, First open the C:\ProgramData\ChaseCam\Dashware\Settings\FilterSe ttings_8.2 (Vista, 7) or in xp C:\Documents and Settings\<your account name>\Application Data\ChaseCam\Settings\FilterSettings_8.2 in notepad

Find the line that begins with:
<Parameter name="Deinterlace" guid="9cf1a332-e72b-4a6d-bbe8-199595944546"
Change the whole line to
<Parameter name="Deinterlace" guid="9cf1a332-e72b-4a6d-bbe8-199595944546" parameter="Field interpolation" />

I think we may have mistakenly defaulted to interlaced for the last release. We have a new release coming out very soon where we fixed the default.

OK it looks like xml cannot be posted to the forums: so lets try again. Where I describe what line to change you need to add a < before the line. I cannot add it here because the forums interpret that as html.

Im using the chasecam and I have used all of them and they all have interlacing issues. The best of them is the mpeg 4 high quality setting.

So before Parameter name place the <

You are looking in C:\Program Files\ChaseCam\DashWare. The settings file is at C:\ProgramData\ChaseCam\Dashware\Settings\FilterSe ttings_8.2 (Vista, 7) or C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\ChaseCam\Settings\FilterSettings_8.2 (xp).

I found that and the line you talked about already has the parameter="Field interpolation" included. Its odd that you dont have anything to get rid of this...attached a photo for you. Any other suggestions, I would be more than happy to send you the param file.

It doesn't look interlaced to me, it looks aliased, but it is hard to tell from the picture. Aliasing will happen whether or not something is interlaced, and I think yours is caused by the high contrast between the interior of the car and the light sky. Does it vary depending on the size of the window you are viewing it in? You might be able to use the scaling filter in a video profile to choose a smoothing filter that could remove the aliasing along your window (see the help under working with video -> Editing Video Profiles) for more information. Also if you want, PM me, and we can figure out a way for you to get me a video, and I can play around with it and see if I can improve the aliasing.

Let me give the scaling a shot and if no go we will need to get the video to you as I want clean footage. Also, is there a way to tweak the camera contrast a little?
