I just replaced my old laptop and installed my copy of DashWare on the new laptop. Each time I open DashWare it asks me to re enter my key and says I'm working on a trial copy of the software. After entering the key the program opens but if I try to open a video file I get the error message that it doesn't recognize the file type and shuts down.
Any suggestions?
Laptop is Dell Precision M6400 with Windows 7
Video equipment: 2 chasecam cameras, PDR100 and SS1000
Hmm... When you enter your name and serial number in the registration dialog, do you check the activate now check box?
Do you get any errors back from registration or activation?
If the registration and activation both succeed, I have never seen it use the trial mode. Very odd.
If the registration fails you would be reverted to trial mode.
If the registration succeeds but the activation fails, you would be in the activation grace period (similar to trial mode).

It must be in the activation mode because it says I have 15 days left of my trial period. Also, it seems to only happen the first time I open Dashware on a given day. I've opened it several times today and not gotten the message (other than the first time after I turned on the computer).
Even more frustrating is Dashware telling me the chasecam vedio is an invalid media format and shutting down. How can chasecam video be an invalid media format?
It sounds like your DashWare install somehow messed up. The video errors means our codecs weren't installed properly.
Have you tried re-installing DashWare?
If re-installing doesn't help, enable PMs or email me (rolf@chasecam.com) and I can give you a link to a beta build.
Thanks,
Rolf

Rolf,
Reinstalling seems to have worked. Thanks for the help,

Rolf,
Reinstalling worked for a short time. Now I'm back to the same problem in that each time I open Dashware I have to reactivate my license. And since there is no wireless access at the tracks I can't use Dashware until I get home and reactivate. Very frustrating. Is there anything else I can try? Is there a way to deactivate Dashware that was registered to my old lap top?
Doug,
I think I know how to fix this issue. I will get you a beta build before too long. If it works, the change will be incorporated into 1.1.4 which should be released in a week or two. A few other people have been getting this same problem.
Thanks,
Rolf
